I think he's drafting me...  Shocked

Also

Been riding about 30 miles a weekend, and hill training a night or two during the week.

Bought a new bike, that white one, a Specialized Secteur Elite Compact. The Compact means the front gears uses what's called a compact gear set.  There is a three ring set available and a compact two ring set.  The inner ring is smaller than what used to be on older 10 speed bikes with two rings, hence "Compact".  Ten gears on the rear end, aluminum frame and a carbon fiber fork.

The doctor put me on a 1900 calorie diet.  So the fat ought to start sloughing off.  A 30 mile ride at 12 mph will burn 1200 calories.

Get this, I put clipless pedals http://lmgtfy.com/?q=clipless+pedals on the bike last week.  Clipless pedals have spring loaded clips and special shoes that 'snap' together into a single unit, letting the bicycle pull up on the back pedal as well a pushing down.  To release, you twist your ankle away from the pedal and pop, you're released.  It takes a moment to learn, but it's a short learning curve, but apparently not short enough for me.  Thursday night, first time out with them, I get the bike off the rack at Sharon Woods. I snap in and start practicing snapping in/out.  My pal says he was to ride over the the restroom.  So I ride 100 yards over to the restroom and immediately forget about the clipless pedals.  I stop the bike, realizing my feet are locked to the pedals and I begin to tip over.  Being new to the things I didn't yet have the skill to release quickly so I flopped onto my side in the grass.   To the who were with me on the ride back from Chattanooga a few years back, you may realize that some things never change.  Cheesy

Lisa's doing OK too.

I do miss you guys.   I know Aurelio can't read, so tell him I said, "Hi."  Grin

A wing isn't an old mans bike, it's a wise mans bike. Often that wisdom comes with age.

Hey Dave, try doing the "not remembering you are clipped in" in front of several hundred bicyclist. I'm speaking from experience and it wasn't my first time with clips! Great hearing from you and keep on pedaling.
